mr nice guy goes to san francisco
so i'll be in SF (do not say "Frisco") this week. i'll be arriving in the bay area (do not say "Frisco") late tomorrow night and leaving california (do not say "Frisco") friday afternoon. i'll be there (do not say "Frisco") for work.
is there anything going on this week i should check out if i get some free time? i see that stephen malkmus will be playing at amoeba on weds, but that'll likely be a total clusterfuck. balkan beatbox was supposed to be playing at the filmore on thurs, but it looks like that may have been cancelled because their singer and bassist are being held by immigration (oh noes!!!).
so what should i do for kicks in Frisco (oops!)?? any tips?

Did you spell San Fransisco like that on purpose? hehe..
San F-r-a-n-c-i-s-c-o ;)
sorry the schoolteacher in me came out!
oops. fixed.
Bummer, dude. So I guess I'm not seeing you in Crooklyn on Wednesday night?
As for SF, go check out my buddy's art gallery/bar/lounge. It's called 111 Minna. It's south of Market. Ask for the owner Eiming and tell him you're a friend of mine from NYC. It's a very cool downtown space and Eiming has a great eye for art.
Stay away from the Marina, Union Square, and Pacific Heights. Yuppie Central. If you come back wearing dockers and polo shirts, I'll know you went there and we'll be forced to reintegrate you.
Shoot me a line if you want more info (like where to get a great burrito, find a drink past 2:00 am, or meet a transvestite.)
Well I can tell you where to eat at the very least. I know you're a bug fan of the tasty. www.restaurantwhore.com

Yes! Keep 'em coming. I am stuck in newark intl airport waiting for my delayed flight, drinking at TGIF'ingFs and being tortured by espn on 12 flatscreens. And dying for a transvestite.
It may be worth your while to stop by The Boom Boom Room (on Fillmore near Geary -- just north of The Fillmore) to see what John Lee Hooker used to call his home away from home. Too bad you aren't staying through Friday... I've heard that Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillet Lickers put on a good blues/jazz/swing show. They'll be playing at Biscuits and Blues.
I cannot believe that you were in my city and I didn't know about it as I have had limited 'net access these last couple of weeks.
So how was it?
Mr. NG, are you okay? Not here or Newsweek...we worry. Wishing you the best.
