okay, that foolin' around clip made me smile. those folks are awesomely talented and more fit than a bunch of gymnasts. I was curious enough to check out the second clip, though--is that Ricky Skaggs with Bruce Hornsby? I didn't make it all the way through, not because those fellows aren't awesomely talented, too, but because it just felt so wrong to hear that song, that way.
mel, thank you for clicking -- that was indeed ricky skaggs. good eye. and it does feel wrong, doesn't it? yet oh so right.
that first clip comes from the 1941 movie "Hellzapoppin'" -- great title. haven't seen the flick, but that clip is enough to make me want to buy eight copies of the dvd.
as a side note, my word verification code is wdoibaby, which i think one of those dancers shouted halfway through their routine. awesome.

Loved, loved loved the first clip. So talented.
I thought three things about the second clip....
"Isn't that Bruce Hornsby??"
"oh my freaking God that is Superfreak--I actually own that on vinyl"
"Rick James is rolling over in his grave."
I was surprised about how much I actually enjoyed it. I used to think that only hicks and old people enjoyed country. I'm just getting old.
